My Day

With fingers crossed, we're hoping this week will be a good one. And what better way to kick off the week than with a little letter telling Monday what's up? We hope you all have a lovely day and an even lovelier week. Here's some inspirational finds to an even better Monday:

A happy, upbeat song (and probably one of the best live performances I've seen).

Little kids are so freaking awesome. And is it a coincidence that they're all named John? [p.s. you'll ever guess who showed up at work yesterday...]

Amazing strength each and every day.

Such an unbelievable story. I can't wait to see the movie.

A little spring

Rose printed jean shorts! Where have these been my whole life?!
Right now I am obsessed with everything girly; flowers, lace, jewelry, bows, everything! I guess the little girl inside my heart wants to go outside and dance in the beautiful springy weather or something, and as it is quickly become spring, it's time for a wardrobe update. I'm throwing out old pieces that don't suit my style anymore, and replacing them with a few girly things such as these.

I just donated an old white skirt to goodwill. This little number is the perfect replacement.
The damask cutout print on this bracelet takes the bold gold and makes it really feminine.
I absolutely love this shirt! I love wearing it all the time, warm or cool. It's perfect.
These dangly feather earrings are extra flirty.

Sometimes.

sometimes we're grumpy.
sometimes we're hungry.
sometimes we're a little tired.

Sometimes we're all three.

This week has been kind of... blah. Full of good days, bad days, lazy days, and sleepless days. Not much has happened, but it feels like there's a ton of work to be done. Even though it seems we've caught a case of the Mondays mid-week, the promise of the relaxing weekend keeps us going. And hopefully, if things go really well, we won't be closely resembling these little critters anymore.

Around the House

My room is in need of a makeover, but for some reason I can't bring myself to change it. Instead I settle for window shopping and admiring all the beautiful possibilities... from bedding to chalkboards and all the sweet little details.

I'm stumbled upon this beautiful bedding here, and found its home at Urban Outfitters.
I love the sweet and rustic feel of this exposed wood frame.
Urban Outfitters does it again. This is just adorable in so many ways.
Such a pretty wallpaper... and I love that pattern on just about anything.

Black Swan

Swans + Ballet = devilish romance?
We love going to the movies; the whole experience is so exciting to us, the popcorn and candy, being absorbed into a film, the after-movie critique. We love it. This weekend we saw The Black Swan; it was a potent mix of ballet, lust, and eye-covering horror. It definitely changed our view of ballet for a while.

Urban and Anchors

The weather down here has been beautiful and it feels like spring is just around the corner. Anna was even saying today that it feels like the perfect weather for taking a dip in the pool. Maybe its too soon, but I can't stop thinking about dresses, stripes and all things nautical, and Urban Outfitters is getting it right.

This layer dress is the perfect mix of stripes and simplicity.
I'm usually more of a silver girl, but this gold anchor necklace is just perfect. [and you can't beat that price!]

I love this. The pockets, the stripes, the double straps... everything.

My Own Secret Garden

Nothing is as satisfying to me as showing people how much I love them, but this week (and last week) I have not been able to out-do my guy and his incredible sweetness. My room is filled with dozens of beautiful flowers thanks to him, and now I can't seem to spend enough time in my own secret garden.

All we can say is...

To all of our friends and family,
this is long overdue,
all we can say is...
WE LOVE YOU!

Sigh...

I'm gonna try not to be a downer today, maybe tomorrow and the next day, but not today. Today all of the obnoxiously adorable couples can go and be as obnoxious and adorable as they want to be (see below)... and I'll try not to puke.

In all seriousness... Happy Valentine's Day. Enjoy it.

Dear John

I was at work the other day, minding my own business when all of the sudden I heard the sound of tiny footsteps behind me. I turned around to find the cutest little boy look at me, giggle and run away. His mom was off somewhere else in the store, but he stayed near me running around and laughing until she was ready to go. They disappeared for a few minutes and I honestly figured they left.
I was wrong. As they were walking out the door, the little boy yelled "bye girlfriend!" to me, leaving his mom in total shock. She was a little embarrassed, but I thought it was brave of him and so very adorable. One of my co-workers came up to me later and told me what happened. She said the little boy ran up to her exclaiming, "I'm in love! I'm in love with that girl over there!" I smiled and she told me his name was John.
Little kids are so bold in what they say, what they do, and how they love. They're out there and unafraid, and that's exactly what love should be. I don't know why years later we're so afraid to love and let it be known, but we could all take a few pointers from kids like John.

Chocolate Smothered Pretzels

The paradox of salty and sweet flavors {like pretzel m&ms with salt and vinegar potato chips---try it} is one of the most delectable things to me. And because I hardly ever have time to create something gourmet,  these easy-to-make chocolate and pretzels have become my go-to treat... that is, if Pinky doesn't get to them first.

Pinky was just testing it... he swears.

Fearless!

Ever feel like its you vs. the world?
We do. Like at a monster truck rally, we are the car at the far end of the 20 car jump---yes---the one that is almost always guaranteed to be squished. It's to bad that the big ole truck that is rolling over us can't see that we are FEARLESS. Like this ↓ kid proves, sometimes fearlessness is all it takes to be awesome.

A kid can do it, so can we!

Marilyn is probably the most fearless woman ever. What better way to embrace her vibe than on your t-shirt?

This Mac Wonder Woman lipstick in Russian Red not only is a fearless red, but it's superhero container is fearless, too.

Take a Pill

I'm so chill... the ice cubes in my sweet tea today were shivering. Everybody, go take a chill pill. Right now. Stress is for squares. Seriously, just go enjoy your day... let yourself laugh, take a snooze, watch that movie you haven't seen in years, or eat an unhealthy amount of cheerios. Just go enjoy, be chill, and love it.
And this guy ^ ain't got nothin' on me.

Just Tired.

flat tired.

dog tired.
"two" tired.

Any way you put it, I'm freakin' tired. I was up late last night trying to catch up on work and barely got any sleep. I don't know how Anna is always awake and lively in the morning, or how she manages to get a good night's sleep. She's just one of those crazy morning people. I'm trying to think positively though... like maybe I'll find time to squeeze in a nap today or maybe I'll get to sleep early tonight. Maybe I'll even figure out how to sleep with my eyes open. That could be a little creepy though. Anyway, I'll stop now. Go have a great Monday.

The Little Things

So we know this post was supposed to be yesterday, but last week was extremely busy for us with everything we have going on. Molly has been working on a few projects and I have been trying to plan ahead on a few things, so far... not working too well. But, we have learned how not to frustrate ourselves by enjoying the little things. Just bear with us, have a relaxing day like Molly did, and enjoy the little things.

A little girl who loves unicorns more than anything ever.

A treat that Pinky couldn't keep his schnozz off of (more details later this week!).

My outfit every evening as I sit watching movies with molly, "the boy," or even my family.

It's Game Time

As most everybody knows, Superbowl Sunday is tomorrow, which means that it's time for the cheering and the overeating to begin. I usually look forward to the commercials, the half-time performance and the snacks more than the actual game, but hanging out with friends and having a good time is what it's all about. One of my friends brings the same dish every time and it gets gobbled up in minutes. It's so simple and delicious that anyone could make it in 3 minutes. All you do is cover the bottom of a dish with re-fried beans, then add a layer of sour cream, salsa, and finish it up with cheese sprinkled on top. Grab some tortilla chips, then pull it out the fridge when it's time to go. Trust me, everyone loves it and you'll love how easy it is to make.

A Little Sparkle

When I was little, I would dress up wherever I went. I would take time to carefully select what jewelry I would stack around my neck or what color tutu I'd be prancing around in. I was never afraid to wear something sparkly, outrageous and over the top because well, I was four and thought I was a princess. What I'm trying to say is, is that I've lost that, and its time to add a little sparkle back into my life. Literally.

These would be a great replacement for a pair of red sparkly flats I had when I was five. If I could ever afford them... or walk in them.

I guess these would be more appropriate to dress up in than a hot pink tutu... maybe.

You know you wanna do that.

Preppy with a Flare

The weather is changing, which means that Molly and I need to shop :) I always have a reason to hit up d-town or the mall, I think Molly gets tired of my shopping obsession. Right now, I am dying to steal these preppy styles with flare (like this look) as spring rolls around.

Emma Watson's preppy flare to a basic cardi or dress is so whimsical. I absolutely love her collaboration with People Tree. Her confidence and intelligence is so astonishing; Emma is my inspiration for the next few busy months.
Cute oxford shoes with a little heel for some pop.

Rachel Bilson makes preppy look so good! Here she is going ultra casual, but the chains and heels make the outfit look amazing. I am definitely recreating this outfit in the next few weeks.
